Am I in Poland or Chicago...?

February 22, 2013
Waking up for a 9am meeting was not the easiest thing to do after a night out, not to mention the jetlag… Our meeting was like an introductory meeting to Poland and it must not have been too exciting because I cannot remember specifics.
I must mention, Poland weather is just like Chicago weather. One day it’s nice and sunny out and the next day it’s snowing but the worst part is the bitter wind. Today was one of those snowing, windy days. Today we had a 2 hour walking tour at 10am.

Although I was miserable, I did overall enjoy the tour and was able to sacrifice my hands to the cold to get some pretty decent pictures. After editing, I made the pictures display the beautiful city in sunshine and clear air – not the gray, foggy air that we were submerged into for 2 hours but hey, it’s the buildings and sight seeing that really matters – not the weather!

Meeting number 2 followed the tour. Again, this meeting focused on academics. The way academics works here is the most foreign experience I’ve had so far.
Rather than find your classes online and sign up and register before hand, you:
   1. get a schedule of all the classes offered
   2. Pick and chose which one’s you want to take (you can attend all of them the first week if you’d
       like)
   3. Go to the first lecture
   4. Register by attending the first lecture and writing your name on the attendance list.
Sounds pretty great and simple, right? You’ll see the faulty with this process in a later post…

Night number 2: another underground club. I didn’t think it was possible, but this night seemed to be more eventful than the previous! We met a gentlemen who is friends with the bartender and we chatted up the night with both of them before us ladies decided to go dance.
Again, dancing was a lot of fun! And did I forget to mention the music? The music here is AMAZING. Granted, it’s all American songs but the remixes are phenomenal!
The night turned interesting when a very drunk young man danced himself around our group and then decided it was necessary to rip his shirt off. You’d think a situation like this would be a little strange (which it was) but with his severely intoxicated dance moves, it was hilarious.
